High Commissioner Prasad Kariyawasam participated as the Chief Guest in the “Vaisak Purnima” Commemoration at the National Museum of India in New Delhi, organized by the Young Men Buddhist Association of India, on 14 May 2014. Addressing the gathering, High Commissioner Kariyawasam said that on this day the message of Buddha elucidating the importance of peace and harmony, equity and equality as well as tolerance must be remembered and re-iterated. Buddha’s teachings delivered over 2500 years ago remain even more relevant in the today’s world.

The second round of talks between India and Sri Lanka on comprehensive civil nuclear cooperation was held on 5-6 May 2014 in Colombo.  The two delegations were led by senior government officials of the respective countries. The talks were held in a warm and cordial atmosphere, on the draft text of a comprehensive Agreement on Bilateral Civil Nuclear Cooperation.
