Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to India, Milinda Moragoda recently undertook a visit to the Headquarters of the Akshaya Patra Foundation in Bengaluru, Karnataka to study their renowned mid-day meal programme for school children. 

Established in 2000 as a non-profit trust of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), Akshaya Patra is one of the world’s largest not-for-profit run school feeding programmes, serving wholesome food every school day to over 2.3 million children from 22,367 schools across 15 states and 2 union territories of India.

In keeping with its policy of promoting dialogue with all major religions in India, the High Commission of Sri Lanka in New Delhi today (23) presented a Sinhala translation of the Holy Quran to the historical Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah of Delhi for permanent display.

Situated in the Nizamuddin West area of Delhi, Nizamuddin Dargah is the mausoleum of the Sufi saint Khwaja Nizamuddin Auliya (1238–1325 CE). The Dargah is visited by thousands of pilgrims every day. The site is also known for its evening qawwali devotional music sessions. The descendants of Nizamuddin Auliya look after the whole management of Dargah.

Continuing his dialogue with Heads of Mission of Islamic countries in New Delhi who are concurrently accredited to Sri Lanka, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to India Milinda Moragoda presented a copy of the Sinhala translation of the Holy Quran to the Ambassador of Tunisia to India Hayet Talbi Bilel today (23).

The presentation was made this morning at the Tunisian Embassy in New Delhi.

Sri Lanka's High Commissioner to India, Milinda Moragoda recently met with the former Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister of India and the Chairman of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust Shri Nripendra Misra.

Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra is a Trust set up by the Government of India in February 2020 for the construction and management of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, which is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Rama. The Trust is composed of 15 trustees.

Sri Lanka's High Commissioner to India, Milinda Moragoda met the Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy of India Shri Raj Kumar Singh in New Delhi, today (18), to discuss ways and means of further enhancing cooperation with India in the power and renewable energy sector.

The Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy of India and the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka discussed a range of issues pertaining to bilateral cooperation in the power and renewable energy sector, including the grid connectivity between Sri Lanka and India. The discussion particularly focused on the ways and means to deepen and broaden the long-term strategic cooperation in the sector.
