The Department of Immigration and Emigration of Sri Lanka has informed that, as per the interim suspension order issued by the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka on August 2, 2024, the online visa portal (www.srilankaevisa.lk) has been deactivated with immediate effect and until further notice. In this context, the High Commission wishes to share the following information:

 

Tourist Visa - 

  1. Tourists can obtain visas on arrival at the port of entry.
  2.  On-arrival visas are not available for nationals of certain countries, namely Afghanistan, Syria, Ghana, Nigeria, Pakistan, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, North Korea, and Myanmar. Their nationals can apply for visas from the Head Office of the Department of Immigration & Emigration through a representative. Nepal Nationals may also follow the same instructions, please.
  3.  The applicable visa fees remain unchanged. Nationals of seven countries (China, India, Indonesia, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia and Japan), who have the facility to obtain visas free of charge, may also obtain visas on arrival free of charge.
  4.  To obtain on-arrival visa you need to provide your valid passport, return ticket, and hotel reservation details.  
  5.  The above provisions for applying for tourist visas will be in effect until further notice.

Business Visa - 

  1. Business Visas are not provided on arrival. Until receiving the instructions from the Department of Immigration on business visas, please process the business visa application from the Head Office of the Department of Immigration & Emigration through your representative in Sri Lanka.   

Gratis Visa – 

  1.  Gratis Visas should be applied through the Sri Lanka diplomatic mission.

 

Journalist Visa –

 

  1. Journalists may apply for Visas through the Sri Lanka diplomatic mission.
