Maha Bodhi Society of India, New Delhi centre organized a special Vesak Full Moon day programme on 18th May 2019 in commemoration of the 2563rd Buddha Purima Celebration at the New Delhi centre.

The morning session included Buddha Puja, observance of Sil and Buddha Vandana, Buddha Puja and Sutra chanting by Joint Secretary, Maha Bodhi Society of India and Bhikku In-Charge of the New Delhi Centre of Maha Bodhi Society, Delhi Centre, Ven. Sumittananda Thero and Dana was arranged for the Buddhist priests.

Addressing the audience High Commissioner Austin Fernando noted that thoughts, action of a person is inter connected with the mind. Therefore it is important to discipline the mind.  

The evening session of the Vesak programme included a Damma session with the participation of High Commissioner Austin Fernando, Former Indian Foreign Secretary Ambassador Lalit Mansingh, President of the Maha Bodhi Society of India, Dasho Passang Doorjee, Staff of the High commission, Sri Lankan Buddhist community in New Delhi, the Sri Lankan students studying in New Delhi and Buddhists of Indian origin also participated in this religious programme.

The Maha Bodhi Society of India is the premier International Buddhist Organization founded by late Anagarika Dharmpala in 1891.
