Sri Lanka's High Commissioner to India Milinda Moragoda stated that it is critically important to develop eight thrust areas in moving Sri Lanka- India relations from a transactional phase to a strategic phase, in keeping with the fourth pillar of the four pillar-cooperation package announced during the recent visit of the Sri Lankan Finance Minister to India. 

High Commissioner Moragoda made these remarks, speaking at a virtual event organized by the Vivekananda International Foundation, a premier thinktank based in New Delhi, today (27) to discuss his policy roadmap, the "Integrated Country Strategy for Sri Lanka Diplomatic Missions in India 2021/2023".

Sri Lanka and India discussed ways in which the two countries could further enhance bilateral cultural relations when Sri Lanka's High Commissioner to India Milinda Moragoda met with Minister of State for External Affairs & Culture of India Smt. Meenakashi Lekhi on Sunday (19). 

The meeting between the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka and the Minister of State for External Affairs & Culture of India was held in a very cordial manner. The discussion focused on further enhancing bilateral cultural relations, in particular through promoting Theri Sanghamitta and Sita of Ramayana, the two iconic figures who played unique roles in the relations between India and Sri Lanka.

All Sri Lankans and Foreigners are requested to upload their vaccine certificates and PCR test results to the following link in order to facilitate swift completion of arrival formalities at ports of entry into Sri Lanka:

While the above documents can also be submitted on arrival in hard copy, online uploading of the certificates and carrying copies of the same with the traveller would ensure swift completion of formalities without any delays.

A group of employees who have been working at the High Commission of Sri Lanka in New Delhi for more than thirty years were provided with an opportunity to tour Sri Lanka for six days as a gesture of appreciation in recognition of their long and dedicated service. The group of ten which included five long-serving members of the staff and their spouses left for Sri Lanka on Tuesday (07).

During the six-day, five-night tour to Sri Lanka, they will be visiting Colombo, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Bentota. They will be visiting the Foreign Ministry and the Presidential Secretariat while in Colombo, and in Kandy they will pay homage to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic as well.

Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa had two rounds of joint discussions with his Indian counterpart, Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman and External Affairs Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar

At the invitation of the Indian Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Finance of Sri Lanka Basil Rajapaksa concluded a successful two-day official visit to New Delhi from 01-02 December 2021. This was the first overseas visit of Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa since he assumed office in July this year.

During the two-day official visit, Minister Rajapaksa had two rounds of joint discussions with his counterpart, Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman and External Affairs Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. Minister Rajapaksa also had direct bilateral discussions with the External Affairs Minister.  He met with the Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas Shri Hardeep Singh Puri and the National Security Advisor of India Shri Ajit Kumar Doval as well.
