The Fourth Meeting of the Joint Working Group (JWG) on Cooperation in Power Sector between India and Sri Lanka was held on 24th June, 2019 at the Ashok Hotel, New Delhi. The Indian delegation was led by Secretary of the Ministry of Power, Government of India, Ajay Kumar Bhalla and the Sri Lanka delegation was led by Secretary of the Ministry of Power and Energy, Dr B.M.S. Batagoda.

The JWG took note of the progress on the decisions of Third JWG meeting held in Sri Lanka in 2018 and reviewed the progress of proposed projects on LNG to be developed by Joint Venture of National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) and Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) in Kerawalapitiya and the Solar Power Projects in Sampur, Trincomalee.      

The delegation led by Secretary of the Ministry of Power and Energy of Sri Lanka, High Commissioner for Sri Lanka in India, HE Austin Fernando, Chairman, Ceylon Electricity Board, Rakitha Jayawardana, Vice Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board, R. Selvarajah, Senior Officials of the Ministry of Power and Energy and Ceylon Electricity Board, Upekka Samarathunga, Minister of the Sri Lanka High Commission were in the delegation from the Sri Lanka side. 

The fifth JWG is scheduled to be held in 2020 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
