The National Cricket Team of Sri Lanka who is on a tour in India and is presently in New Delhi for their next test match to be played in New Delhi.  During their visit to New Delhi, the High Commissioner hosted a dinner reception for the visiting national team from Sri Lanka.  The team is headed by the Manager, Asanka Gurusinghe and the team Captain Dinesh Chandimal.

Opening the dinner reception, High Commissioner in her remarks said that the game of cricket is a popular game in Sri Lanka as well as in South Asia.  The game is also a unifying factor in a multi cultural country.  The unity, team spirit and sportsmanship provide an inspiration to the youth of the country. High Commissioner added that the young team is going through challenging times, but Sri Lanka is confident that they will rise to the challenge and wished the team all the best for the test match, starting on 02nd December 2017.   

Several political figures such as Dr. Udit Raj, MP Lok Sabha and Vijay Jolly, MP, a few diplomats from cricket playing nations, journalists from the print media and academics and members of the business community as well as Sri Lankans living in New Delhi were also present at the reception. 

The Sri Lankan team will play its third test match with India at the Ferozshah Kotla grounds in New Delhi starting on 2nd December 2017. 

The 15 member Sri Lankan Cricket team arrived in India in November for three test matches, three ODIs and three T20Is till December 2017.  The ODI series will begin from 10th December and the first match will be played in Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala.

T20I Series:

Dec 20: India vs Sri Lanka, 1st T20I, Barabati Stadium, Cuttack

Dec 22: India vs Sri Lanka, 2nd T20I, Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore

Dec 24: India vs Sri Lanka, 3rd T20I, Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai
